Well we are the proud winners of the Highlands and Islands Restaurant of the Year 2012. Jane went to the awrds ceremony on friday and came back with a lovely glass thing that you can all come and see in the Whitehouse. And then on Sunday we dicovered that we were runners up in the Observer Food Awards Restaurant of the Year along side the Kitchen in Edinburgh so we are all a bit dazed and thrilled. Mike and Lee's cooking certainly more than deserve these accolades.

I have just been talking to Mike about tonight's menu. He will be cooking Morvern venison in Pedro Ximenes' sherry with an elderberry jus. Sounds delicious to me and then he said he would also be cooking pine infused wood pidgeon with chorizo. A difficult choice.

2012 is a bumper year for rowan berries on the West Coast which is a relief as last year the gales blew all the flowers off and there was not a red berry to be found. Stockes or rowan jelly have been running low but the cauldrons are boiling again and jelly on the way. Here is a picture of some of the crop.
